HILLEBERG AMBASSADOR: Sarah & Eric McNair-Landry, the new generation legend of polar exploration
Sarah and Eric McNair-Landry were destined for the forefront of polar exploration. Their parents are Matty McNair and Paul Landry, two of the world's most renowned and experienced polar explorers. In 2004, Eric, then 20, and Sarah, just 18, made the first ski trip to the South Pole. Soon after, they completed a two-way crossing of the Greenland Ice Sheet, breaking speed records.
Since then, they have broken records, won numerous awards, and spent countless days and nights in remote areas of the Arctic and around the world. As a young generation, they have become some of the most experienced explorers of our time. In 2007, they founded Pittarak Expeditions , hoping to inspire young people to actively participate in outdoor activities and embrace nature through adventure.
Their expedition report
We recently received an expedition report from them documenting another successful adventure:
On March 19th, we pitched our tent outside the community of Tuktoyaktuk. Eric and I had once again chosen to forgo the luxuries of everyday life and move back into our red Hilleberg tent for the winter. This journey would take my brother and me on an 85-day adventure along the historic Northwest Passage, kiting and skiing.
Our chosen home was a three-person Keron GT tent, spacious enough for comfort and warm enough to heat up quickly. The extended front patio became our "garage," where we repaired our sleds and later protected our gear during the June rains.
The most important feature of an expedition tent is a combination of strength and lightness. It must provide protection from severe storms while also being easy to set up in strong winds. The Keron's arched design perfectly meets these requirements."
